How do you make a fused Pokémon name?

Take the opening of one name and the ending of the other, cutting where the syllables fall rather than at the middle character. Charizard cut after its first syllable gives Cha-, and Squirtle from its second syllable onward gives -quirtle: Chaquirtle. Flip the pair and the same rule gives Squirizard. A generator that halves by character count instead gives something like Chardle — technically a splice, but nobody would say it out loud.

Does the order of the two Pokémon matter?

In this generator, twice over. For the name, swapping the pair swaps which half comes from whom. For the image, the first pick supplies the body and silhouette while the second supplies colours, traits and type flavour — so the same two Pokémon in the other order genuinely look different.

Are these real species names?

No. Everything in the table is produced by the rule on this page, which is why it is safe to use for fan art, team names or original characters. Nothing here comes from Game Freak.

Why does a cut like -ks or -ll look wrong?

Because names such as Trunks or Cell have no clean interior syllable boundary, so any rule has to either clip a consonant cluster or hand back a lumpy result. The table shows the cut for every row so you can see which of the two happened instead of guessing.
